Art For the Sky:
A  Transformational Adventure For the Entire School

May 23-27, 2005

Art For the Sky is coming to (YOUR SCHOOL NAME). Daniel Dancer’s exciting one-week learning adventure connects art to math, science and history in an unforgettable way.  Art For the Sky is an outdoor, participatory, art experience that will culminate in a gigantic “living painting” called Earth Eagle. Wearing special state of the art, eco-friendly (organic cotton, no sweatshops, no plastics) t-shirts with the design upon it, each child will become a “human paint drop” in a giant image that will only make sense from the sky. Children will remember this experience all their lives.   Mr. Dancer will take an "aerial" photograph of the 120ft Earth Eagle from the sky. The resulting image will become a part of the school’s history. See: www.artforthesky.com.

Art For the Sky has a 3000 year old lineage. On the parched desert plains of Peru,  giant birds, whales, gods and geometric figures can still be seen etched upon the Earth. Daniel Dancer will explore the remarkable history of this art form with students and teachers during his interactive, classroom, slide presentation.  This residency teaches participants about the importance of collaboration and awakening our skysight to better understand our world. If we can use our imaginations to rise above our problems we are more able to find creative solutions to them. The entire school will be interconnected in the creation of the Eagle and thus experience exactly how nature works. This is a huge and joyful community builder!

Indicate the number of t-shirts you wish to order on the line next to the size.

   Youth Sizes                Adult Sizes
   Medium ________        Small ______Medium ________
   Large __________        Large ______X-Large ________

*I have found that it is simplest to average the sizes for children which alleviates huge headaches the day they arrive.
It seems to work best if K-1 order youth medium, 2-4 youth large, 6-7, Adult small, 7-8, Adult medium.

*Also, it is nice to put a small version of the design on the order form.

Please remind children to bring their forms in each day during the week the order is due.

For the children who don't order shirts, it is fine for them to just wear the color their class is wearing.
